Pre-Emergent Selective Weed Control
Prevents the weeds from germinating properly without affecting the grass

 |
|
Synergy Corn Gluten Meal Granulated Fertilizer
|
Synergy with Corn Gluten Meal 6-2-2 contains the ingredient corn gluten meal which is edible and an approved organic weed control. The combined action of the fertilizer and the weed control will stop new weeds from germinating and reproducing up to a 60% success rate for the first use and up to a 95% success rate if used regularly over a three-year time period. Synergy produces a fast green-up of grass and controls weeds without the harmful side effects of dangerous pesticides. Synergy works best if applied in March or April, prior to the weeds' germinating and then again as a winterizer in October. Synergy also contains a superior fertilizer that produces a long lasting beautiful color. Synergy is non-toxic to people, pets, and children.
DERIVED FROM: Corn Gluten Meal, Bone Meal, and Sulphate of Potash.
How does corn gluten meal work?
Shortly after germinating, young weeds send out secondary roots called feeder roots that draw vital nutrients from the soil. The corn gluten meal, which is a by-product of corn syrup production, damages the feeder roots of many plants germinating from seed including weeds like dandelions, crabgrass, lambs ears, clover, etc. The result is that many of the weeds will germinate, but will not develop into a reproducing adult.
Synergy is registered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Post-Emergent Selective Weed Control
Kills only the weeds and not the grass; after the weeds have germinated

Natures Weed Control (NWC) 7-0-6 is an organic post-emergent weed control and organic fertilizer. NWC is a natural fertilizer derived from the beet extraction process. When applied correctly Nature's Weed Control will cause actively growing weeds to build oxygen in their cells. This oxygen is toxic to actively growing weeds and the result is the weeds slowly get smaller until they are no longer visible. NWC is limited, however, because it works very well on actively growing weeds, but not as successfully on fully mature weeds. The average weed control rate in Colorado is between 10-60% depending on the lawn and the weed. At worst NWC damages the weeds and makes them smaller and less aggressive. Nature's Weed Control is considered non-toxic to pets, people, and the environment. If you are interested in a weed control with higher control rates read below about Smarter Weed Control, which is an organic/synthetic weed control combination that obtains and 80-90% weed control rate.

Non-Selective Post-Emergent
Kills all plants including grass after germination

BurnOut is an all-natural, non-selective herbicide for broadleaf & grass weeds and a natural alternative to products like Roundup [PDF 43K].
BurnOut is made from vinegar & lemon components, it is 100% biodegradable, breaking down into inert ingredients once in the soil. Results can sometimes be seen in as little as 6 hours after application, with most weeds desiccating in 24 hours. Perennials or plants in full shade may require a second application. BurnOut controls weeds such as chickweed, plantain, dandelion, pigweed, oxalis, mustard, foxtail, bindweed and more. As with any weed control the best results occur when spraying young actively growing weeds in Spring/Summer, but BurnOut may be sprayed year round as long as air temperatures are above 70°F.
The killing action is a dehydration process. The acidity of the vinegar removes the waxy protective coating from the surface of a plant. This exposes the plant to severe dehydration. The moisture will evaporate and desiccate the plant in a matter of hours. This application works best on hot sunny days when temperatures are above 70 degrees F. Most plants will brown up within 2 to 6 hours after the application. Some plants living in full shade or plants with thick waxy-coated leaves like bluegrass, kosha, and mallow may require a second application.
Read the Penn State University study on the effectiveness of Acetic Acid (Vinegar) products compared to Roundup [PDF 22K].
Burnout is registered with the EPA by ST. Gabriel Labs, EPA reg. # 69836-1-6319. Burnout is also registered with the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Post-Emergent Selective Weed Control
Kills only the weeds and not the grass; after the weeds have germinated

Smarter Weed Control * 7-0-6 Organo-Lawn introduces the "Smartest" conventional pesticide procedure in the treatment of weeds. By using a combination of organic weed control and synthetic weed control, Organo-Lawn can reduce pesticide exposure by more than 50% and it will control weeds up to 90% per application.

This is how we do it:
|
|
Organo-Lawn's specially designed gun. The top trigger controls the traditional pesticide and the bottom trigger controls the fertilizer and organic weed control called Nature's Weed Control
|
|
|
The larger bottom tank holds the Nature's Weed Control and the smaller top tank holds the traditional pesticide

Application Method
Due to our specially designed spray tanks we apply Nature's Weed Control (our 100% organic weed control with fertilizer) over the entire lawn, and spot spray a synthetic pesticide only over the areas with weeds. We only apply the Natures Weed Control, on the areas in your lawn that have no or small weeds. Then when we approach a weed-infested area our applicator will squeeze the second trigger on the gun, which will spray a synthetic pesticide which is comprised of Quicksilver and MCPA to kill the larger weeds. Quicksilver is the only herbicide on the EPA reduced risk list and is comprised of the chemical Carfentrazone 21.3%, Please note that we do not use the very dangerous synthetic pesticide 2,4-D [PDF 68k]*.

How the Product Mix Works
We apply an organic weed control called Nature's Weed Control over the entire lawn. Natures Weed Control kills weeds between 10% - 60% and fertilizes the lawn at the same time. As the technician approaches large weeds or heavily infested areas the technician will press a second trigger on the gun, which injects at the tip of the gun the stronger synthetic herbicide. This unique technique reduces synthetic pesticide use by at least 50% on bad lawns and 75-95% on good lawns, however, it still obtains an exceptional high weed control rate of 90%** (highest rate even when using 100% synthetic). Using this technique called Smarter Weed Control you get the same great weed control as with conventional pesticide application methods, but your exposure to synthetic pesticide is greatly reduced. After 1-3 applications with Smarter Weed Control the weeds in you lawn become fewer and fewer. After the weeds are under control each application of Smarter Weed Control will contain less and less of the synthetic pesticide.
** With the exception of bindweed and crabgrass we recommend the use of Drive 75 [PDF 20K] to obtain the 90% control rate.
Quicksilver is registered by FMC Corporation under the EPA Number: 279-3265 and is also registered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
MCPA Amine is registered by Nufarm Americas under the EPA Number: 228-143 and is also registered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Weed Control in Native Grass
Milestone Specialty Herbicide
|
|
|
Applications in native areas require special applications that are specifically designed to protect the wildlife and kill the weeds that grow in these natural environments.
|
Canada thistle, musk thistle, goatheads, yellow mustard, alfalfa, knapweed, kochia, and so many more invasive weeds and grass can turn a beautiful native area into a disaster. Native areas are very important to the ecosystem and this is one reason why Organo-Lawn is committed to using the most environmentally friendly and effective products available. We are thrilled to have the product Milestone as our weed control for native areas. Milestone is one of the best weed controls for thistle, goatheads, mustard and knapweed and it is also on the EPAs Reduced Risk pesticide program. Milestone is so low toxic it is practically non-toxic to humans, fish, honeybees, invertebrates, amphibians, and birds. Milestone is broken down by soil microbial activity very quickly and it does not leach through soils. Milestone does not damage monocots so grasses will not be negatively affected by the application. Native grasses typically do not need supplemental fertilization so when we apply this product to native areas we do not apply it with a fertilizer. Typical control rates with most weeds are between 80-95%.
Canada and musk thistle treatments are the most common use for milestone. We achieve exceptional control when the product is applied in early June and again in early September. Typical control rates for Canada and musk thistle are between 90-95% per application and it will take 2-3 applications to get a major thistle problem under control. We have experienced very good weed control when targeting other weeds using milestone including knapweed, goatheads, mustards, and kochia.
Milestone is registered by Dow AgroSciences LLC under the EPA Reg. NO. 62719-519 and is also registered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
