Double Aeration

Double Aeration – A double lawn aeration is the same as a core aeration except our technician will make two passes over the lawn. This is recommended for customers with severely compacted lawns or those that are wanting to top-seed a lawn immediately after the lawn aeration has been completed.

A lawn care aeration service alleviates soil compaction thereby allowing nutrients, water, and air to penetrate the soil and access the root zone of the lawn. Loose soil that has been aerated allows the grass’s roots to dig deep into the soil. Grass with deep digging roots will tolerate heat and drought stress better than grass with shallow digging roots. Organo-Lawn is proud to provide these vastly important local lawn care services for homeowners in the Boulder and Fort Collins area.

Lawn care aeration is extremely important for the health of the soil in a lawn and important for your lawn care program and we recommend adding this service at least once per season, if not twice for best results.

FAQ - Double Aeration

What is the difference between thatching and aerating?

  • Thatching or dethatching is when we use a machine called a power rake to physically remove the thatch layer of the lawn. Thatch is caused by poor cultural practices such as improper lawn watering, improper lawn mowing and the use of chemical lawn fertilizers and weed controls. Lawn aeration is a different machine that pulls plugs from the soil and alleviates soil compaction, allowing nutrients, water, and air to penetrate the soil. Air is vital for beneficial microbes and bacteria to survive and thrive. Having a living soil with those beneficial microbes will keep the lawn from needing a power rake or dethatching.
